Please register your interest for the ride via the WCC Facebook page.
Meet in HItchin Town Square at 17:30 in readiness for a prompt 18:00 departure.
From there we’ll head out on the quieter lanes towards Gosmore and our first pub stop of the evening - The Bull. Frothily refreshed, we’ll head back out and on towards St Paul’s Walden and the Strathmore Arms, once again doubling their taking for December! Suitably sated, we hit the road for a short downhill freewheel into Whitwell and the third pub on route, the Bull Inn. With another light libation on board, we head west to Ley Green for our annual visit to The Plough. We’re always a bit of surprise for the regulars who kinda live there 24/7!
Mindful that the clock’s always ticking we’ll squirrel away another frothy one before heading to our final pub on the ride, the Red Lion in Preston. Tradition dictates that it’s here we arrange the bikes around the garden to show them off to their best ability while an unsuspecting member of the public is persuaded to be Judge & Jury for the ‘Best Dressed Bike 2018’ Award.
Kudos earned and celebrated, we hit the road back to Hitchin and for those who are eating, our dinner destination at Mevan on Sun street. Table for 20 booked for 21:00. Time for a warm-up, to reminisce about rides ridden throughout the year and to make new plans for rides in 2019.
Plan B – If it’s really miserable, weather wise, then we’ll have a Plan B… Just not sure what it is yet! Hopefully not needed.
Please Note: There is absolutely no pressure whatsoever to have an alcoholic drink during the ride. The WCC do not encourage or condone drinking and riding - Please see the website for full terms & conditions.
Hopefully see you and your bling in the Town Square.
